What (dis)love tells me
Mahler's 3rd symphony is a monumental work that's well worth 1.5 hours of anybody's time. It has 6 movements (7, if you consider that the first should be split in two), and Mahler gave them titles. He then took them away to not influence the listener, but I find they are very helpful in understanding the music and the structure of the concert.
Movements 1 and 6 are some of the things I would save from this planet if I had to leave. They are in my emergency suitcase. They lift me when I'm too much on the ground, or too much in my head.
Mahler titled the 6th movement What love tells me, and I've put words to it in a very special way.
